1. Dlaczego zdecydowałaś się na pracę w cyrku i jak zaczęła się Twoja przygoda ze sztuką cyrkową. Jak wyglądąły pierwsze lata pracy pod namiotem.
Bardzo lubię życie w cyrku. To fascynująca praca pod wielkim namiotem. Podoba mi się tworzenie i urozmaicanie numerów z naszymi lwami morskimi. Na początku nikt w nas nie wierzył. Kiedy zaczynaliśmy, byłam ładną dziewczyna i w numerze z lwami morskimi miałam pracować tylko jako asystentka. Chciałam być partnerką na arenie i sama też chciałam trenować zwierzęta. Miałam fantastycznego nauczyciela, mojego męża Rolanda. On pokazał mi wszystko, jak zostać dobrym trenerem i artystą. Naszym pierwszym cyrkiem był od razu Circus KNIE w Szwajcarii.
2. Od wielu lat wraz z mężem prezentujecie na arenie pokaz patagońskich lwów morskich. Skąd pomysł na dodanie do pokazu elementów humorystycznych i psa?
Byliśmy dwa razy w Monte-Carlo z lwami morskimi z Patagonii. Nie mogliśmy zrobić tego lepiej. Postanowiliśmy więc zrobić coś innego. Pracowaliśmy w tym czasie dla serialu telewizyjnego "Hallo Robbie!" z kalifornijskimi lwami morskimi. Chcieliśmy więc zrobić coś innego niż typowy numer z patagońskimi lwami morskimi. Chcieliśmy stworzyć nowy numer, jak w dawnych cyrkach z dodaniem odrobiny humoru. Pewnego dnia, kiedy mieliśmy próbę z kalifornijskimi lwami morskimi, nasz pies podszedł do lwów morskich... To był początek z psem w tym pokazie z lwami morskimi.
3. Jak dużo czasu potrzeba na przygotowanie pokazu z udziałem lwów morskich. Co jest najważniejsze, a co najtrudniejsze w pracy z lwami morskimi, jak wygląda opieka i tresura lwów morskich?
Potrzeba co najmniej dwóch lat szkolenia, zanim wyjdzie się na arenę. Bardzo ważne jest, aby lwy morskie nauczyły się dyscypliny. Ponieważ kiedy jedno lub dwa zwierzęta pracują, pozostałe muszą pozostać na swoich miejscach, tak aby w czasie numeru utrzymany został porządek. Osiąga się to w ten sposób, że niepracujące lwy morskie dostają ryby tak samo za pozostanie na swoich posterunkach, jak ich pracujący koledzy. Zwierzęta są karmione co najmniej trzy razy dziennie. Podczas karmienia każde z lwów morskich otrzymuje krótkie sesje treningowe, aby utrzymać je w aktywności lub nauczyć czegoś nowego.4. Występowaliście nie tylko w cyrkach. Były też parki rozrywki i inne miejsca. Gdzie według Ciebie lepiej się pracuje?
W parku mamy więcej możliwości z tymi zwierzętami. Przez wiele lat mieliśmy w Belgii teatr lwów morskich. Regularnie pokazywaliśmy tam nowe spektakle teatralne. Zwierzęta pracowały w wodzie i na scenie. Ale my kochamy cyrk. Tam też mamy dużo miejsca, żeby pokazać nasz numer z lwami morskimi.
5.Dwukrotnie występowała Pani na Festiwalu Cyrku Zalewski w Warszawie. Jak Pani wspomina ten czas?
W Warszawie czuliśmy się bardzo dobrze. Dwukrotnie zostaliśmy uhonorowani złotem na Festiwalu Cyrku Zalewski. Za drugim razem wygraliśmy razem z Davidem Laribble.
6. Występowała Pani z mężem na największych arenach cyrkowych. W ostatnich latach wiele sezonów w Circus Krone. Czy spodziewała się Pani takiej kariery? Czy był jakiś przełomowy lub pamiętny moment w historii Waszej pracy na arenie?
Mamy bardzo wspaniałe zwierzęta. Dlatego tak zapierająca dech w piersiach kariera była możliwa! Dwa szczególne momenty miały miejsce w 1995 i 2010 roku, kiedy otrzymaliśmy srebrnego klauna. Niezwykłe były również występy w Teatrze Carree w Amsterdamie, w Paryżu w Cirque d'Hiver, z "Höhner" w Höhner Rock' Roncalli Show, czy w Bad Nauheim w Teatrze Dolce. Również 6 lat z Circus Krone było jednym z najważniejszych momentów w naszym cyrkowym życiu.
7. W jakim cyrku najmilej wspominasz swoją pracę; Circus Krone czy inny? Gdzie jeszcze chciałbyś wystąpić?
My i lwy morskie czuliśmy się tam "jak w domu" podczas 6 sezonów w Circus Krone. Podobała nam się również praca w Circus Knie w Szwajcarii. Kilkakrotnie gościliśmy w World Christmas Circus w Stuttgarcie. Był też specjalny występ w Bukareszcie w Cyrku Globus. Zostaliśmy bardzo ciepło przyjęci przez rodzinę Casartelli i kilkakrotnie występowaliśmy w ich pięknym cyrku. Wiele fantastycznych doświadczeń aż do teraz.
8.Udział w Festiwalu Sztuki Cyrkowej w Monte Carlo to marzenie wielu artystów. Pani udało się je spełnić. Jakie to uczucie wystąpić wśród najlepszych artystów i zdobyć nagrodę srebrnego klauna? Co najbardziej zapamiętałaś z Festiwalu w Monako?
Być zaproszonym na Międzynarodowy Festiwal Cyrkowy w Monte Carlo to coś wyjątkowego w karierze artysty. My mieliśmy to szczęście już trzy razy! Nadal mamy bardzo dobre kontakty z Monte-Carlo.
9. Miałem okazję zobaczyć Cię na żywo podczas 24 Dresdner Weihnachtcircus 2019. rewelacyjny występ, zabawny i dopracowany w każdym szczególe- perfekcja! . Dziś brakuje takich numerów, czy myślisz, że powodem jest cyrk ze zwierzętami i ataki na niego?
Zostało już tylko kilka cyrków, które wynajmują numery z dzikimi zwierzętami. Jest to po części spowodowane wielokrotnie wypowiadanymi nieprawdziwymi stwierdzeniami organizacji broniących praw zwierząt. Widzowie często nie mogą już bezstronnie podziwiać numerów z udziałem zwierząt. Z drugiej strony to miasta, które czują się wezwane do zakazania dzikich zwierząt, muszą wierzyć, że robią coś dla dobra zwierząt. Jest wręcz przeciwnie. Nikt nie martwi się o to, co stanie się ze zwierzętami, jeśli znikną z cyrków. Zwierzęta żyją pod ludzką ręką a ich trenerzy robią wszystko, co w ich mocy, aby je nakarmić i zapewnić bezpieczeństwo.
10 Obecna sytuacja jest trudna dla cyrków i nie tylko. Jak spędzacie czas zamknięcia i jakie są wasze plany na przyszłość. Gdzie będzie można Was zobaczyć po pandemii?
Troszczymy się o nasze zwierzęta. Są one karmione i zajęte trzy razy dziennie. ZOO jest otwarte w weekendy. Wtedy zrobimy dwie prezentacje edukacyjne. Goście mogą również kontynuować pływanie z lwami morskimi i robić sobie z nimi zdjęcia. Oferujemy również treningi na jeden dzień i pływanie terapeutyczne.
Podczas pierwszego zamknięcia w Hiszpanii napisałam książkę dla dzieci, którą pokochali również dorośli. Nosi ona tytuł "Robbie, przyjaciel na całe życie". To piękna historia o bardzo wyjątkowej przyjaźni między lwicą morską a młodą kobietą. Ta historia rozgrywa się w Japonii! Pierwsze wydanie jest w języku niemieckim. W międzyczasie przetłumaczyłam moją książkę na język hiszpański i obecnie pracuję nad tekstem angielskim.

1. Why did you choose to work in the circus and how did your adventure with circus arts and the first years of working under the tent begin.
I really like the live in the circus. It‘s fascinating work under a big top. I like the creativity and creating acts with our sea lions. At the beginning nobody believes in us. When we startet a pretty girl in a sea lion act had only to work as an assistant. I wanted to bee a partner in the ring and also I wanted to train animals myself. I had a fantastic teacher , my husband Roland. He showed me everything, to bee a good trainer and artist. Our first circus was straight ago Circus KNIE in Switzerland.2. You and your husband have been presenting the Patagonian sea lion show in the arena for many years. Where did you get the idea to add a touch of humour and a dog to the show?
We were twice in Monte-Carlo with the patagonien sea lions. We couldn‘t made the act better. So we decided to do something different. We worked in this time for the television serial „Hallo Robbie!“ with the californien sea lions. So we wanted a different act to the very known Act with the patagonien sea lions. We wanted to create a new act like in the old times of circus but with the know how from today with a touch of humeur. One day when we rehearseled with the californian sea lions our dog came up the staires from the sea lions... This was the beginning with the dog in the sea lion act.3. How much time is needed to prepare a show with sea lions. What is the most important and the most difficult thing about working with sea lions, how does the care and training of sea lions look like?
It takes at least two years of training before a smaller number is rehearsed. It is very important that the sea lions learn discipline. Because when one or two animals are working, the others must remain seated so that order is maintained in the group and in the number. This is achieved by allowing the non-working sea lions to get their fish just as much for staying on their postaments as their working counterparts. The animals are fed at least three times a day. During feeding each sea lion receives short training sessions to keep them busy or teach them something new
4. you have performed not only in circuses. There were amusement parks and other places. Where is it better to work according to you?
In the park, we have more possibilities with the animals. We had a sea lion theatre in Belgium for many years. There we regularly showed new theatre shows. The animals worked in the water and on stage. But we love the circus. We also have a lot of space there to show our number with the sea lions.
5.You have performed twice at the Zalewski Circus Festival in Warsaw. How do you recall those times?
We felt very comfortable in Warsaw. We were honoured with gold twice at the Zalewski Circus Festival. The second time we won together with David Laribble, even the big circus prize in gold.
6. You have performed with your husband in the biggest circus arenas. In recent years many seasons in Circus Krone. Did you expect such a career? Was there any breakthrough or memorable moment in the history of your work in the arena?
We have very great animals. That's why such a breathtaking career was only possible! Two special moments were in 1995 and 2010 when we were presented with the silver clown. The performances were also extraordinary at the Theatre Carree in Amsterdam, in Paris in the Cirque d'Hiver, with the „Höhner“ in the Höhner Rock' Roncalli Show, or in Bad Nauheim at the Dolce Theatre.
7. In which circus did you work best? Circus Krone or any other? Where else would you like to perform?
The 6 years with the Circus Krone were also one of our highlights in our circus life. We and the sea lions felt "at home" there during the 6 seasons at the Circus Krone. We also liked working at the Circus Knie in Switzerland. We were guests several times at the World Christmas Circus in Stuttgart. There was also a special appearance in Bucharest in the Globus Circus. Casartelli, we were very warmly welcomed by the Casartelli family and have performed several times in their beautiful circus. A lot of fantastics expieriences until now.
8. Taking part in the Circus Arts Festival in Monte Carlo is a dream for many artists. You have achieved it. How does it feel to perform among the best artists and win a silver clown award? What do you remember most about the Monaco Festival?
To be invited to the Monte Carlo International Circus Festival is something very special in an artist career. We've been lucky three times! We still have very good contacts to Monte-Carlo.
9. I was able to see you live at the 24th Dresdner Weihnachtcircus 2019. sensational performance, fun and elaborate in every detail- perfection! . Today there is a lack of such numbers, do you think the reason is the animal circus and the attacks on it?
There are only a few circuses left who hire numbers with wild animals. It is partly due to the repeatedly expressed false statements of animal rights organisations. Spectators can often no longer enjoy animal numbers unbiassed. On the other hand, it is up to the cities that feel called to ban wild animals, to believe that they are doing something for animal welfare. The opposite is the case. Nobody is worried about what should become of the animals if the proceeds break away. Animals live under human hatred and animal teachers will do everything they can to feed them and secure their lives.
10 The current situation is difficult for circuses and not only. How do you spend your lockdown time and what are your plans for the future. Where will it be possible to see you after the pandemic?
During the first lockdown in Spain I wrote a children's book that adults also love. It's called "Robbie, a friend for life." It's a beautiful story about a very special friendship between a sea lioness and a young woman. The story plays in Japan! The first edition is in German. In the meantime, I have translated my book into Spanish and am currently working on the English text.
